Mr. Boo's Parrot Rescue

Mr. Boo was the parrot Mindy never expected to have.

Mindy found the male moluccan cockatoo who belonged to the cousin of a friend, in a small cage in a dark corner of a room, surrounded by boxes and piles of things, with no food or water. Mindy was able to get him out and home, but getting Mr. Boo to recover his mind from his past experiences was a journey in and of itself. Mindy spent hours and hours on end sitting by Mr. Boo and gaining his trust, slowly helping him to overcome his past trauma. His sweet personality began to shine through, and slowly, because of Mindy’s help, he began to heal.

While Mr. Boo is no longer with us, he sparked a drive in Mindy to want to do better to help parrots like him, and to educated others to guide them into providing better lives for their birds, too.

Mindy has a background as a radiographic technologist and has been married for almost 10 years. She shares her home with 6 dogs, 2 lizards, a tortoise, chickens, and 8 parrots of her own. She loves to spend time with her grandson, make crafts, sew quilts, and deer hunt.
